A Painful Past (…a spirit of infirmity, Verse 11)

According to the text we can see that her problems are of the physical nature.  Luke the PHD tells us that she was stricken with some form of disease, what might be considered a severe case of osteoporosis or a severe case of arthritis that was directly linked to the hand of Satan.

Luke uses the term infirmity to describe this woman’s plight, but allow me to use this to make this analogy.  All painful infirmities that people are stricken with are not always physical.

Some infirmities are emotional.  These can produce mood disorders, depression, anxiety, insomnia, panic attacks, thoughts and attempts of suicide and dependency issues.

People become dependent on substances, sex, people, etc.  I need you to understand today that these kinds of infirmities can be crippling if not dealt with properly.

Some infirmities are relational, marriages gone bad, friendships ended, abuse physically, verbally and mentally.  Infirmities of family issues and finances, just to name a few but the list can be endless.

The pain from these can be devastating, disturbing and demoralizing.  Yet we see the pain from our past is not a deterrent to our future if we deal with our present.

This woman was in pain because of some infirmity brought on by Satan and I would solicit to you this morning that there are some people in this room in pain as a result of Satan.
