Product Description

I want you to visualize a picture of a lion and under the animal we read these words: "Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.  It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed... every morning a lion wakes up.  It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.  It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle...when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.

Lions and gazelles both face trouble.  One runs to get a meal and the other runs to not be a meal; but they both run.  Trouble is epidemic.  Everywhere we look and wherever we go trouble greets us.  When we rise from our slumber, trouble is there.  At work and at worship, trouble is there.  As we sit down to prepare to meet our budgets, trouble is there.  Although it is an unwelcome and uninvited guest, trouble knows how to gain entry into our lives.  Trouble keeps us running.  It keeps us praying. Trouble makes us strong and gives us a song.  I believe trouble gives us the building blocks to happiness beyond our present circumstances and helps us deal with our pain.  Although trouble is on every side, we have to keep on running.

Next, Paul says “We are” perplexed.  This means uncertain and unsure.  In the original Greek perplexed has the connotation of being without resources, to be in straits, to be left wanting, to be embarrassed, to be in doubt, or not to know which way to turn.  There are times when we don’t know why things happen to us.   We are not meddling, but they happen. We are not living in sin, we are trying to live holy and trying to live right, but they still keep on happening.  Is there anybody else here this morning who has unfavorable things happening over and over again in their life?  Is there anybody else here whose life sometimes seems to be stuck in a cycle of trouble?  I have to admit as one who has been there it is perplexing how you can give your best and receive life’s worst.  It’s unsettling how you can give it your all and get nothing in return.  At other times we don’t know the answer to life’s jigsaw.  There are questions; we just don’t know the immediate answers. There are answers, we just don’t know them.

v Although we don’t know the answer does not mean there is no answer!
